Cascade Mountains
Climate:
Average snowfall ranges from 50-75 inches in lower elevations, 400-600 inches at 4,000 to 5,000 feet. Snowfall begins in higher elevation in September, and down to 3,000 feet by the last of October.
Why Shoot in the Cascades:
The Cascades extend from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California.
The North Cascades National Park have over 318 glaciers, more than half of the glaciers in the 48 continuous states.
Mount Baker Highway (Hwy 542) is a curvy winding highway that has snow on higher elevations through July and offers spectacular vistas. A great high performance road.
Washington has approximately 18 ski areas, most of which are in the Cascade Mountains.
