In March 2009, WashingtonFilmWorks announced the 2009 Viral Video Campaign, soliciting up to five local filmmakers (novice to expert) to create :30 and :60 commercials promoting Washington State as a great place for motion picture, commercial, and television production. After a lengthy and competitive process, WashingtonFilmWorks is pleased to announce the four filmmakers for this year’s program.

The film industry heats up in Washington State! The feature films "The Details," "The Ward," and "$5 Cover" all approved through the WashingtonFilmWorks incentive program have commenced production in the state.
8.10.09 - WASHINGTONFILMWORKS REACHES 2009 FUNDRAISING GOAL
WashingtonFilmWorks (WFW) has reached its fundraising goal, successfully raising $3.5 million for 2009. WFW would like to thank their 2009 contributing members some of which include Microsoft, Crowne Plaza Hotel-Seattle, W Seattle, The Westin Seattle, Sterling Savings Bank, Von Piglet Productions, and StraightEIGHT Films.
4.15.09 - GOVERNOR GREGOIRE SIGNS BILL INCREASING FILM TAX INCENTIVE FROM 20% TO 30%
Washington Governor, Christine Gregoire signed revenue neutral SBH 2042, which increases the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program tax incentive from 20% to a 30% return on production's Washington State spend.
