5.20.2011 Legislative Alert

May 20, 2011

After being passed in the Senate yesterday, the legislation to renew the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program was referred to the House Ways and Means Committee chaired by Representative Ross Hunter (D, 48th Legislative District).  We are unclear if or when the bill will be heard in his committee and the bill MUST be heard before it can be considered for a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives.

We urge you to email Ross Hunter directly to request a hearing on SSB 5539.  In writing, explain how this program has impacted your life and the film industry in Washington State.  This is critical. There are only 4-5 days left in the Special Session and the bill MUST be heard in the Ways and Means Committee before it can be considered for a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives.

Ross Hunter's email address is:Ross.Hunter@leg.wa.gov.

Email him today and stay tuned for further updates.
