JLARC Reports on Washington Filmworks

The Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC) recently conducted a review on the effectiveness of the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program as managed through Washington Filmworks. The preliminary report painted a positive picture of the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program indicating that due to the tax incentive Washington State has continued to maintain its position within the film industry.  The report recommends that the tax incentive program be renewed and re-examined at a later date. To read the full preliminary report visit: JLARC Report

Washington Filmworks is pleased with JLARC's recommendation.  With over 44 states nationwide with competitive tax incentives, our program remains the single most effective tool the state has to win motion picture business.  With a modest fund of $3.5M a year, Washington Filmworks continues to have a significant economic impact statewide bringing in an estimated $55M to our local economy over the last four years.

Executive Director Amy Lillard and WF Board Member Don Jensen will attend a hearing of the JLARC committee on Wednesday, December 1st in Olympia.

The Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC) is the Legislature's Auditor and works to ensure state government operations function effectively, efficiently, and with more accountability.  As part of their mission JLARC conducts performance audits, program evaluations, sunset reviews and other analyses.
