Located in the Department of Ecology, the Governor's Office of Regulatory Assistance Call Center is a comprehensive customer service center that responds to callers and provides services to walk-in clients. Experienced staff are on hand to:

  • Connect customers with regulators in state, local, and federal agencies
  • Research applicable regulatory requirements
  • Identify necessary permits and approvals
  • Distribute applications and associated informational material
  • Provide contacts for technical support
  • Orient and inform customers in as efficient and expedient a manner as possible

The Governor's Office of Regulatory Assistance can assist film companies in determining which environmental permits and approvals may be requested for each project. The review period for each environmental permit is dependent on the complexity of the film shoot, project location, and the project's impact to the environment. The timeframe may vary from two weeks for simple projects to one year for more complex projects.

For more information visit the Office of Regulatory Assistance website at www.ora.wa.gov. The website offers some environmental publications and permit application forms to download or print, as well as the new Online Permit Assistance System (OPAS). OPAS helps the applicant determine environmental requirements for their project based on answers to a series of questions. OPAS will provide a list of permits required (as well as description of each permit) and names and phone numbers of the agencies to contact.
