Brett Halperin

Brett Halperin researches how emerging technologies reshape media industries with a focus on artificial intelligence in cinema. His peer-reviewed publications on the future of Hollywood and independent production cultures appear in leading international research venues, receiving multiple awards and widespread media coverage. Currently, he works in applied research at Luma AI on the evaluation of cinematic capabilities to support filmmakers. He has previously worked as an Adjunct Professor at New York University, a Visiting Academic at the University of Southern California, and a Visiting Researcher at Midjourney. He holds a PhD from the University of Washington and a BA from Brown University.
