Unemployed because of the COVID-19 crisis? You’re not alone – and in the same boat of some of entertainment’s most iconic (unemployed) characters. Maybe you’ve been feeling a bit like The Big Lebowski, lounging around in your bathrobe 24-7. Or maybe you’re inspired to start a striptease act with your friends, like Gaz in the Full Monty. Or perhaps your inspired to design an intricate board game like Ben Wyatt in Parks and Rec.
All jokes and entertainment references aside, at Washington Filmworks and Whipsmart, we are getting lots of questions about gig workers and unemployment.
To answer questions we get most often, we’ve put together an informational sheet about what we know right now. With the recent passage of the CARES Act and the overwhelming number of people applying for unemployment in Washington State, the situation will evolve and change almost daily.
We will continue to provide any breaking news updates as we get them.
We are also working with Artist Trust to put together a webinar on Friday, April 10 for those that work in the creative industries. More details coming soon.
If there are questions that you have that aren’t addressed in the informational sheet, send them our way at info@WashingtonFilmworks.org.
