Once called “more movie than person,” Mikayla Tianli Nicholson is Washington Filmworks’ Competitiveness Coordinator. Mikayla is a recent transplant to Seattle and spent the past three years working as the Education Outreach Manager and Projectionist at Pickford Film Center in Bellingham, Washington. In that position she managed the Doc-ED program for middle school students and the Third Eye Cinema series, also serving as a liaison and producing partner for the PBS Indie Lens Pop-Up program. Mikayla spent three years as the Festival Director of the Bellingham Music Film Festival, and worked in Olympia with the Washington State Democratic Caucus. She indulged in her passion for movies while working at the video store Film is Truth 24 Times a Second, where she learned that she enjoys Aaron Sorkin’s dialogue, Richard Linklater’s ruminations on time, and anything Agnès Varda.
