Zac Bentz (they/them) is an interdisciplinary filmmaker, graphic designer, musician, and artist currently living in Seattle. They have been writing, directing, editing, scoring, and self-releasing independent short films since age 12, and hold a degree in Film and Media studies from Whitman College and a certification in directing and production from FAMU in Prague, Czech Republic. For nearly their whole life, they have compulsively tunneled into the hearts of various DIY arts scenes and worked tirelessly to build uplifting, supportive communities with fellow underground creatives. They currently work as an editor and art director for Unincarcerated Productions, a Washington-based documentary production company run by a small team of formerly incarcerated creatives working toward total carceral abolition. They are currently in post-production on a short film, Appetizer, and their other directorial work has screened in festivals all the way from Ohio to New York. In addition to independent filmmaking, they also work with rising musicians, artists, and filmmakers across the Pacific Northwest on posters, branding, print media, and merch design, run the independent record label Electric Menagerie and the media publication Birdbath, and play bass and keys in psych-jazz bands Wind-Up Birds and The Cabinet.
