2012 has been a year of major changes at Washington Filmworks (WF).  We wanted to take a moment to share some of our significant endeavors so far this year.

Re-launch of the Sales Cycle – To date, the Board of Directors has approved 10 projects, including 6 commercials and 4 feature films.

Revising Reporting Practices – WF has been collaborating with the Washington State Department of Commerce and the Washington State Department of Revenue to assess and revise our reporting practices.  We also continue to consult with Washington’s Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee.

Program Revisions and New Programs – WF has revised the Guidelines and Criteria for our standard incentive program, and launched a new funding assistance program called the Filmworks Innovation Lab.  The Innovation Lab is designed to invest in Washington’s local creative community and to encourage the development of original storytelling that capitalizes on new forms of production and technology.

Moving and Hiring – WF has moved our office to a new location in downtown Seattle and brought on additional staff, including a Production Services Coordinator, a Programs and Communications Coordinator, and an Administrative Assistant.

Updating Resources – Staff has been busy revising our internal and public resources, updating our Reel Scout locations database and our internal database, and modifying our website.  We continue to add content about the business of film in Washington to our blog, and have initiated a monthly locations newsletter.

Reviewing Completion Packages – Staff continues to review the completion packages from incentive productions in 2011 and 2012.
