Three Dates and Three Ways You Can Help Pass SB 6027

We are in the home stretch of the 2015 legislative session and it’s a sprint to the finish. Now is the time to dig deep, stay engaged and help keep SB 6027 in the budget conversations.

Here are three simple, easy ways you can help the KEEP FILM IN WA effort NOW.

Tuesday, June 9 — Business Blitz

We urge all Washington-based businesses that support the film industry to call and email Senator Andy Hill (R, 45), Chair of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, and Frank Chopp (D, 43), Speaker of the House.  Explain to Senator Hill and Speaker Chopp that film production supports your business and ask them to include SB 6027 in the final budget.

For more information, check out our talking points for businesses.

Thursday, June 11 — Dial for Dollars

We are asking all film industry professionals to contact their Senator and Representatives using the toll free Legislative Hotline. Between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 11, call 800-562-6000 to leave a message for your district legislators.

When the operator answers, be prepared to give them your name and address – and tell them you’d like to leave a message for all three of your legislators. In the message, ask that they support SB 6027 and include the bill in the final budget.

To refer to facts and figures about the production incentive program, feel free to use the Keep Film in WA Factsheet.

Tuesday, June 16 — Film In Action Day

On this day we are asking film professionals from all corners of Washington State to send a photo of FILM IN ACTION to key House and Senate budget negotiators. Whether it is a photo of a person editing a commercial, an actor on set, or simply the back end of a grip truck bursting with equipment, send these images with a note about what SB 6027 means to you. And ask them to include SB 6027 in the final budget.
