Thank you to the Washington film community.  The energy you have dedicated to the renewal of the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program is truly inspiring.  Today, Amy Lillard and Julie Daman of Washington Filmworks are in Olympia, alongside our legislative team and members of the film industry.  The group will spend the afternoon meeting with various Representatives from the House Ways & Means Committee, as well as other legislators.

In the mean time, we wanted to point out another effective means to contact your elected officials.  We’ve been hearing from community members about their experience with the Legislative Hotline in Olympia. The toll-free number (1-800-562-6000) makes it simple to deliver a message to your Representatives and Senator in one free and easy call. Operators can take your message Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

Denise Gibbs of Foreground Background LLC recently reminded us of how painless it is to contact your Representatives.  I called the hotline today and it was very easy.  An operator asks for my name and address and what bill I am in support of and she sends it off to my legislators.  Took less than a minute.”

Our legislative team confirms that the hotline is a great way to grab the attention of Olympia.  Each day in caucus, legislators discuss the top three issues from the hotline that receive the greatest volume of calls.  A surge of calls in favor of SB 5539 is another means to show support for the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program.  So let’s keep those phones ringing off the hook.
