During the first week of November, Washington Filmworks Executive Director Amy Lillard traveled to Cheney, Pullman, and Spokane to visit students and local industry professionals.

Lillard lead our Town Hall event in Spokane about important legislative matters – she gave an overview of the 2015 Legislative Session, discussed the work of the Advocacy Committee, and issued a Call to Action asking the film industry to share with Washington Filmworks their legislative districts (click here to learn more about the Call to Action).

After the Town Hall event, Lillard introduced the Washington Filmworks-produced “Pulling Focus” event about the building blocks of independent cinema. Producer Lacey Leavitt (Laggies, Lucky Them) shared her insight and expertise on independent film production while Nathan Weinbender of The Spokesman-Review moderated the conversation.

Additionally, Lillard visited both Eastern Washington University (EWU) and Washington State University (WSU). At both schools, Lillard talked about the future of Washington State filmmaking as well as opportunities for students after graduation.

Lillard looks forward to her next visit to the east side when she is in Spokane for the Annual Industry Update on December 11.
