Tell us your story about accessing the social safety net.

Washington Filmworks and Whipsmart have heard A LOT from creative workers about how hard it is to access government assistance programs—like the challenges of having to navigate a bureaucratic system that isn’t designed to support gig work. (It’s a little bit like trying to put a square peg in a round hole, right?) And when creative workers do apply for assistance, it often becomes a game of “hurry up and wait” to access unemployment insurance, workers comp, healthcare and food assistance programs. The struggle is real!

But guess what? Change can only happen if we tell our story and talk about the specific challenges creative workers have accessing government assistance programs. We need your stories to help identify the scope and scale of these challenges. So we’ve designed a Social Safety Net Survey.

You can find the survey HERE . Please take 20 minutes to complete the survey and share it with your friends and colleagues. The deadline to fill it out is Wednesday, August 5.

Washington Filmworks and Whipsmart will use this information to develop and advocate for meaningful policy recommendations that will support the creative industries now and in the future. Please be a part of this important work that can impact change in the future!
