Kim Schwarzkopf (she/they)

Kim Schwarzkopf (she/they) is a Filmmaker, Producer, and Co-Leader of River City SkatePark, based in the lands of the Duwamish (also known as Seattle). She is dedicated to building healthy communities through a focus on placemaking, environmental and economic justice, and the arts. Kim is passionate about projects that foster connection and understanding. As the writer and producer of Emotional Tourist: Raising a New Generation, she explores how to create nurturing, creative, and green spaces for future generations, reflecting her commitment to disrupting generational violence, increasing the peace, and encouraging regenerative community practices. In 2014, Kim founded Across the Bridge, an innovative mentoring program that empowers youth in the film, music, and creative industries. Recently recognized at the Seattle Film Summit and winning the Creative Economy Contest, the program helps young people develop their voices through local field trips, hands-on workshops, and mentorship, highlighting the power of community partnerships and the arts. Kim envisions a regenerative and educational platform in her bioregion to produce “Commercials for Good”—or “Planetary Service Announcements”—that empower communities to make meaningful changes, including transforming financial systems in service of living systems. At the top of her list is a documentary about the Duwamish River, inspired by BJ Cummings’ The River That Made Seattle, reflecting her belief that everyone deserves access to green spaces, fresh air, clean water, and a healing environment.
