Basil Shadid is a documentary filmmaker and producer whose credits include Academy Award nominated, Emmy winning, and Audience Award winning films. Recent work includes Elements of Mutual Aid, a 4-part documentary series where he served as an Impact Producer, Angels Are Made of Light (director James Longley) and Drag Becomes Him (director Alex Berry). He also creates a radio series called Roll Back the Rugs that explores dance parties that changed the course of music. Basil has spent the last several years at the intersection of storytelling and emerging tech, developing AI-powered software to support the video creation process and exploring how AI is reshaping the creative and ethical landscape of filmmaking. He holds an MA in Mental Health Counseling and a deep belief in the power of story to bridge communities.
