Brett Halperin

Brett Halperin is a PhD Candidate in Human Centered Design & Engineering and Cinema & Media Studies at the University of Washington. He researches how AI is reshaping contemporary film aesthetics, labor, and spectatorship. His peer-reviewed publications appear in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design Research, and Cinema & Media Studies. He has recently served as an Adjunct Professor at New York University (Integrated Design & Media), a Visiting Academic at the University of Southern California (Institute for Creative Technologies), and a Visiting Researcher at Midjourney (Storytelling Lab). Previously, he organized with grassroots media groups and film festivals. He holds an MS from UW and a BA from Brown University, where he also trained at RISD.
