Aaron Drane is a tenured filmmaking professor at Olympic College and an active producer and screenwriter with more than 25 years of industry experience. He teaches screenwriting and producing, guiding emerging filmmakers from concept to production with an emphasis on professional standards and real-world application.
He has sold three feature-length screenplays in different genres to 20th Century Fox, working with producers John Davis, Arnold Kopelson, and Fox 2000, and later optioned a script to legendary producer Tamara Asseyev. His studio experience grounded him in story structure, market awareness, and production viability—skills he now brings directly into the classroom.
In the independent sector, Aaron has produced feature films and a web series for Sony/Comcast/Lionsgate, collaborating with established voices in the horror genre. His feature film RUCKER (2022), shot in Washington State, integrated Olympic College Film School students into a professional production, allowing them to work alongside experienced Hollywood crew and actors. He also produced GLAMPIRE (2024), an official selection of the Berlin Short Film Festival.
Aaron holds a BA in Communications from Washington State University, an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles, and an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA. His producing workshops combine creative insight with practical execution, training filmmakers to approach a screenplay not only as story, but as a blueprint for production.
