Our office issues over 350 film permits per year and has a 75 year filmmaking history from Tugboat Annie, to Sleepless In Seattle and Northern Exposure, to Humpday and Eden. Seattle has done and seen it all.Film permits are a critical component when you are filming or staging vehicles and equipment on public property. Film permits allow you first right for the public locations you are working.

Two words, Veronica Mars. Many know the name from the popular crime-drama series that ended in 2007 after 3 seasons. Yesterday the series began making a lot of noise on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. In less than 10 hours the campaign known as the “Veronica Mars Movie Project” surpassed it goal of $2 million, potentially rewriting the way studios and filmmakers fund future endeavors.

A group of passionate filmmakers have come together to form the 253 Film Collective. This group is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and sustainable film and media community in Tacoma, by encouraging, mentoring, and promoting local filmmakers and businesses.
Evolution of the Gaming Console
Gaming consoles have evolved by leaps and bounds from what they were a decade ago. Today’s consoles not only act as a platform to play games, but also allow users to watch HD & Blu-ray disks, store & listen to music, and connect to the Internet. By connecting to the Internet, users are able to play video games with people around the word, and access more content. Game console owners can now access YouTube, Hulu, and Netflix and stream content in a matter of minutes.

A new and emerging trend in original programming is bypassing network television and going straight to online platforms. Netflix is ahead of the game in the race to produce and host online content. Their newest “online only” series is House of Cards, directed by David Fincher and starring Kevin Spacey. Spacey plays Representative Francis Underwood, a ruthless politician on a crusade against the presidential administration that turned its back on him.
Mapping Innovation
This exercise is intended to give WF a visual of the multi-platform project being proposed, but also helps the applicant conceptualize and generate ideas, stimulate creativity, and show relationships between different platforms. Where does the motion picture content fit into the larger project, and how does delivering a story across multiple delivery platforms help to enrich and enhance the audience experience?
