OC Film School Free Script Supervisor Workshop (Virtual)
This in-depth training course will thoroughly explore the wide range of responsibilities held by a professional script supervisor. A script supervisor is often referred to as the director’s “right arm and left brain,” assisting them throughout principal photography to ensure the script translates to the screen flawlessly. This essential crew member plays a key role in the success of principal photography for feature films, TV shows, web series, and select commercials. Participants will learn how to get started on set, covering essential topics such as materials, supplies, and the roles of production personnel. Students will also gain an in-depth understanding of pre-production meetings.
The workshop will focus on breaking down a script by analyzing set locations, scenes, characters, and dialogue. This course will also cover how to separate master scenes, identify key actions, incorporate special and sound effects, and make necessary script revisions. Students will then explore how scenes are shot, ensuring actors’ correct looks, reading off-screen dialogue, understanding camera operations, and mastering matching techniques. Additionally, students will receive practical insights into a typical day on set, from rigging and dressing to dry rehearsals and the actual process of shooting with the camera rolling.
This workshop is offered Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29 and will be held over Zoom. Sessions will run daily from 9am-3pm with a break included. There are only 20 available spots.
