Tribal Engagement Training

In 2025, Washington Filmworks received a regenerative grant from the State of Washington Tourism to foster film readiness within the 29 federally recognized tribes in Washington.

With the help of a native consulting firm, The Whitener Group, this work included training our team to better understand and respect tribal history, individuality and national sovereignty. We invite you to explore a free, online resource which was part of that training Indian Country 101.

We continue our commitment to develop a network of film liaisons, identify and connect native filmmakers with industry resources including workforce development opportunities, expand the network of film-friendly locations on native lands, and to nurture collaboration in order to build mutual understanding.
