Washington Filmworks is pleased to announce the five finalists for the inaugural Innovation Cycle of the Innovation Lab. This cycle of the program offers up to $175,000 in funding assistance support and is designed to challenge local filmmakers to create motion picture content that traverses multiple platforms.
The Seattle Office of Film + Music is your one-stop permit shop for all film work on public City of Seattle property. Our office issues over 350 film permits per year and has a 75 year filmmaking history from Tugboat Annie, to Sleepless In Seattle and Northern Exposure, to Humpday and Eden. Seattle has done and seen it all.Film permits are a critical component when you are filming or staging vehicles and equipment on public property. Film permits allow you first right for the public locations you are working.
The staff of Washington Filmworks took some time to enjoy a night of film, great company, and delicious food at Sprout, a locally sourced dinner in Seattle that funds creative projects with a vote. This was the 9th Sprout, but the first to focus exclusively on film and video artists.
Washington Filmworks has always considered commercial work to be a core competency in the Seattle area. We look forward to supporting the City of Seattle and the community partners in this endeavor. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

In late 2012, Washington Filmworks committed funding assistance to five projects helmed by emerging Washington filmmakers through the inaugural Film Cycle of the Filmworks Innovation Lab. Tony Fulgham’s Box Walk is the first of those projects to go into production.
South by Southwest, the massive annual music, film and interactive festival in Austin, Texas, wrapped on March 17. A delegation from Washington was in attendance to network and talk to filmmakers about what Washington State has to offer production.

SXSW, one of the most anticipated music, film, and interactive gatherings of the year, kicked off this weekend in Austin TX. The 11-day festival is host to original music, independent films, and emerging technologies from around the country.
A group of passionate filmmakers have come together to form the 253 Film Collective. This group is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and sustainable film and media community in Tacoma, by encouraging, mentoring, and promoting local filmmakers and businesses.
